Sensual Essential Oil Blends
Men and women have used essential oils and scents in the bedroom, to boost libido and sensual energy, for thousands of years. Certain essential oils are well known as romance boosters, including ylang ylang and clary sage for women and sandalwood and cedarwood for men. But more than a dozen oils are considered to possess sensual properties.
For that reason, people often ask about using essential oils for sex and want to know which sensual essential oil blends are the “best.” But the answer to that question varies widely, depending on personal preferences and who you ask. Some people find floral scents to be very sensual, while others prefer spicy or musky scents. Figuring out what kinds of scents you like and which essential oils create sensual feeling in you can take a little bit of time and effort. (Includes affiliate links.)

Tips for Using Essential Oils in the Bedroom
• Look for ways to save money. Essential oils can be expensive, and creating blends often requires buying several oils. Before you do that, try testing some out to see which ones you like. If you have a friend who sells essential oils ask to try some samples, maybe enough to create a small batch of a blend you might like. Or, check out the essential oil samples in a natural products store or a high-end grocery store.
Another way to save money is to buy a pre-made sensual oil blend. I like Whisper blend by DoTerra, which includes all of the primary essential oils for women, but it’s often hard to find. So Sensual blend by Plant Therapy looks like a good alternative. I haven’t tried a sensual blend for men, but Earth and Wood Blend from Edens Garden looks like one my husband might like.
• Use the blends as a perfume, body lotion, or massage oil. All of the sensual blends can be applied to your wrists and other pulse points as a perfume, applied to the skin as a body lotion, or used to give your spouse a sensual massage with essential oils. (Be cautious about applying the blends directly to the genitals, as they are extremely sensitive.)
• Create sensual diffuser blends or bath blends using the same recipes. Use the oil blend recipes (without the carrier oil) with water in a diffuser to create a romantic atmosphere in your bedroom (or any room). Or add them to a warm bath. (Don’t use carrier oils in a bath, as they can make the tub slippery.)
• Play it safe. Always dilute essential oils. They’re highly concentrated, so dilute them in a carrier oil and test for sensitivity on a small spot on your skin. A 2% dilution – about 10-12 drops per ounce of carrier oil – is generally considered safe for healthy adults. (Consult a doctor before using essential oils if you’re pregnant or have health problems.)
If you’re looking for a way to relax, have fun, and increase interest in the bedroom, give one of these sensual essential oil blend recipes a try.
